Polyamide as world’s earliest varieties of synthetic fiber, has been widely used, due to its excellent performance and rich raw material resources.


Performance of nylon

Good abrasion resistance, the top of all fiber.

It has 10 times the abrasion resistance of cotton fiber, 10 times of dry viscose fiber, and 140 times od wet viscose fiber. Therefore, its durability is very excellent.

The elasticity and elastic recovery of nylon fabric is very good but easy to warp under external force, so its fabric is easy to become wrinkled in the process of wearing.


Air permeability is poor, easy to produce static electricity.

The moisture absorption of nylon is the batter in synthetic fabrics. So clothing made of nylon is more comfortable than clothing made of polyester.

Have good anti-moth and anti-mildew properties.

Heat resistance and light resistance are not good, iron temperature should be controlled under 140 degrees. In the process of wearing and using, you should pay attention to washing and maintenance conditions, in case of damage of fabrics.

Nylon fabrics belong to light fabrics, its material density only after polypropylene, and acrylic fabric. Therefore, it is suitable for making climbing clothes, winter clothes and so on.


Nylon 6 and nylon 66

The most common nylon products are nylon 6 and nylon 66.

Generally, the feel of nylon 66 is better than nylon 6, and the other nylon 66 is more comfortable than nylon 6, but it is very difficult that distinguish nylon 6 from nylon 66 by appearance.

The common characteristics of nylon 6 and nylon 66:

1.Poor light resistance.

Under sunlight and UV light for a long time, its tensile strength decline and its raw color become yellow.

2.Heat resistance is not good, the color immediately turns yellow after 5 hours at 150 degrees, strength and stretch are declines obviously, the shrinkage rate increases.

3. good low-temperature resistance.

The change in resilience is also not significant at below -70 degrees.

3. Its direct current conductivity is very low, and it is easy to generate static electricity due to friction during processing. Its conductivity increases with the increase of wetness absorption and increases with the increase of moisture according to the law of exponential function.

4. strong resistance to microbial action, and their tolerance to microbial action in sludge water or alkali is second only to that of chlorine spandex.

5. In terms of chemical characteristics, nylon 6 and nylon 66 filaments are resistant to alkaline and reducing agent action, but they are less resistant to acid and oxidizing agent action.


Nylon-fiber fabrics can be divided into three categories: pure, blending, and interweaving, each of which includes many varieties.

1.Pure Nylon Fabrics

Nylon filament yarn is only raw material woven into a variety of fabrics, such as nylon taffeta, nylon crepe, etc. Because of the nylon filament woven, it has a smooth feel, is firm and stable, moderate price characteristics, but also the weakness of the fabric is easy to wrinkle, and not easy to return.

01.) Taslon is a kind of nylon fabric, including jacquard taslon, honeycomb taslon, FD taslon, etc. Use high-grade garment fabrics, ready-to-wear fabrics, golf garment fabrics, high-grade down garment fabrics, high water resistance and breathable fabrics, multi-layer composite fabrics, functional fabrics, etc.

① Jacquard taslon: The warp yarn is made of 76dtex/70D nylon filament and the weft yarn is made of 167dtex/150D nylon ATY; the fabric is interwoven on the water jet loom with a double flat jacquard structure. The width of the fabric is 165cm and the weight per square meter is 158g. The fabric is available in different shades of purple, grass green, and light green. The fabric has the advantages of not being easy to fade and wrinkle, strong color fastness, etc.

②Honeycomb taslon: the warp yarn is made of 76dtex nylon FDY and the weft yarn is made of 167dtex nylon air deformation yarn, warp, and weft density is 430pcs/10cm×200pcs/10cm. Interweaving on a water jet loom with a faucet, basically using a double layer of plain weave, the fabric surface forms a kind of honeycomb lattice, and the blank fabric is firstly refined by relaxation, alkali reduction, dyeing, and then treated by softness and shaping. The fabric is breathable, dry to the touch, soft and airy, comfortable to wear, etc.

③FD polyester taslon: the warp yarn is made of 76dtex FD nylon6 FDY and the weft yarn is made of 167dtex FD nylon air deformation yarn. The most important advantage is that it is more comfortable to wear, has warmth, and has good breathability.

02.) Nylon taffeta, is nylon filament Plain weave fabric. After bleaching, dyeing, printing, rolling light, and rolling grain treatment of nylon spinning, the fabric is flat and dense, smooth silky surface, and soft feel, is light and firm wear-resistant, bright color, and easy to wash and dry.

03.) Twill fabric: it is woven by twill tissue with a clear diagonal pattern, including brocade/cotton khaki, waffle, Crocodile, and so on. Among them, nylon/cotton khaki has the characteristics of thick and tight, tough and strong, clear grain, wear-resistant, etc.

04.) Nylon Oxford fabric: the warp and weft yarns are woven with a coarse denier (167-1100dtex nylon filament, plain fiber structure, and the products are woven by water jet loom. After the dyeing and coating process, the cloth has the advantages of a soft feel, strong drape, novel style and waterproof, etc. The cloth has the effect of nylon silk luster.

2. Nylon-blended and interwoven fabrics

01.) Viscose/nylon waders are available in two blends, one with 15% nylon and 85% viscose fiber; The other one is 25% nylon and 75% viscose fiber. Warp and weft yarns are blended yarns, which are 2/2 twill fabrics. This fabric warp density is greater than the weft density nearly double, so the texture the thick and tight, tough and durable. The surface is smooth and lustrous. The disadvantage is that the elasticity is poor, easy to crease, moisture absorption is not good, the shrinkage rate is large, it will become hard when washed, easy to sag when wearing.

02.) Viscose/nylon vanadinite, called nylon plain tweed, has 15% nylon, 85% viscose fiber, and 25% nylon, 75% viscose fiber of two ratios, blended into a double-stranded woven fabric. It is made of plain weave, with the same appearance on the front and back, and feels cool, but not soft enough, and the luster is second only to waders.

03.) Sticky/nylon serge, also known as nylon beep, belongs to the 2/2 twill organization, its appearance is similar to waders, the warp density is 40% smaller than waders, and the weft density is close. As the surface of the serge is flatter and wider than the waders, the interweaving points are clearly visible, but the feel is not as good as waders, and the strength and luster are poor.

04.) viscose/nylon/wool tweed is worsted, mostly plain tweed, referred to as three-in-one tweed. It is blended in the ratio of 4:4:2, and due to the use of different twisting yarns for warp and weft, the fabric shows patterns on the tweed surface due to the reflection of light.

05.) Nylon/viscose/stretch nylon grosgrain, is warp yarn using spandex nylon covering yarn as raw material, woven on air-jet loom, the blank fabric is relaxed, de-sizing → alkali amount treatment → dyeing (with reactive dyes and disperse dyes) → shaping finishing, etc. The product has both viscose fiber fabric style and nylon fabric luster effect, and both spandex fabric elasticity functions; the fabric has cotton feeling, comfort, and stretch.
